Victorian House Plans
Details, Details, Details! In the mid-19th century, architects took a move toward rich, unique designs, and away from the simplicity of the Colonial styles. The Industrialization Era played a big role, as new framing options were made available and mass-produced. The availability of decorative features not only made ornamentation possible but also relatively inexpensive. Bay windows, turrets and multiple rooflines replaced the rectangular shapes of the past. These asymmetrical designs often feature wide verandas and grand towers. Combining the detailed structure with often-used vibrant colors created an exciting visual display. The Victorian style began its downfall around 1920, however the unique design has stuck around for those wanting to build a home filled with opulence inside and out. |
