Arts & Crafts House Plans
Gaining popularity in the early 20th century was the Arts & Crafts home, also known as Craftsman. Upon seeing the rise of factories and mass production, architects were searching for a way to get back to nature. Using materials such as wood and stone, these homes blend in with any landscape. Simplicity and lack of ornamentation are characteristics of every Craftsman home. These homes also usually feature a wide, open porch anchored by foundation pillars for an enchanting outdoor living space. Architects moved the simplicity indoors as well, designing open floor plans with an abundance of windows to flood the interior with natural light. Today, as everything in the world continues to increase its pace, building an Arts & Crafts home is a way to slow down and enjoy Mother Nature. |
