Mediterranean House Plans
The Mediterranean style home is most prominent across the Southern states. However, California, Texas and the Southwestern states also enjoy a large amount homes built in this style. It can also be called Spanish Style because many of the architectural features of the Mediterranean come from Spain. Features of these homes also mirror the styles of Italy. Mediterranean style house plans are best known for their stucco exterior, wrought iron railings and balconies, courtyard entrances, red tile roofs and arches and columns. Designed because of their climate and the sunshine abundant regions they were originally built, these homes typically have open floor plans and high ceilings on the interior to keep the spaces airy and cool in hotter months. Plus, many outdoor living spaces whether it is a balcony, courtyard, covered patio or deck surround these homes and some even incorporate a swimming pool into the design. To better fit into their surroundings, many times these homes are painted to reflect the natural colors of the landscape that surrounds them. |
