Southern Plantation House Plans

The rise in wealth from cotton in pre-Civil War America gave way to grand homes built on large plantations in the South. Characteristics of these homes were derived from French Colonial designs of the 18th and early 19th centuries. The most defining element is the expansive porch with balcony above and stately Greek columns. Also, arched windows and French doors accessing the outdoor living spaces are common features of these exquisite homes. These homes recall the glory days of the South, combining fine amenities and the comforts of home.
